The purpose of the Compassion Capital Fund grant is to build capacity of faith-based and community organizations by:
- Increasing their effectiveness and sustainability
- Enhancing their ability to provide social services
- Diversifying their funding sources
- Creating collaborators to better serve those most in need
Program design:
There are three components to this program:
- Workshops/group trainings (offered at no charge)
- These will consist of one hour, half day and full day trainings. We anticipate offering a total of 50 of these among the 4 counties served.
- Technical assistance (offered at no charge)
- 30-40 organizations will be assisted (24 of these will be sub-awardees)
- Financial assistance (See Sub-awards below): $180,000
- There will be 2 sub-award cycles, the first with 10, the second with 14 awards.
- Awards will range from $2500 -- $15,000.
Sub-awards:
- Priority for sub-awards will be given to programs which serve:
- Low-income individuals seeking to gain greater access to state and Federal benefits and tax credits
- Low income individuals seeking to secure and retain employment, earn higher wages, and obtain better quality jobs
- Low income individuals and families in need of financial education, credit counseling and access to IDA accounts and other asset building strategies
- The homeless; elders in need; at risk youth, including Native American youth; families in transition from welfare to work
